1. In paragraph 5 of decision RC-9/2 on the operation of the Chemical Review Committee, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade appointed the 14 designated experts listed in the annex to that decision to serve as members of the Committee, with terms of office from 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2024. The curricula vitae of those members are set out in document UNEP/FAO/RC/COP.9/INF/4/Rev.1.

In line with the process for collecting information on ongoing international trade adopted by the Chemical Review Committee at its first meeting, the Secretariat sent an invitation on 27 May 2020 and 12 June 2020 to Parties and observers to submit information on ongoing trade and use of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds and made the call for information available on the website of the Rotterdam Convention. As of 30 June 2020, the Secretariat has not received any information.

The Secretariat prepared, as set out in the annex to the present note, a summary of notifications of final regulatory action that have been reviewed by the Interim Chemical Review Committee or the Chemical Review Committee, and of those notifications scheduled for review by the Chemical Review Committee. Excluded from the summary record are those notifications for a use category of a chemical already included in Annex III to the Rotterdam Convention.
