Intersessional Task Group work between the sixteenth and seventeenth meetings of the Committee

Intersessional Task Groups are established by the Chemical Review Committee (CRC) to undertake an initial assessment of candidate chemicals tentatively scheduled for consideration by the CRC.

Each Intersessional Task Group prepares a report, which includes their assessment of whether the individual notifications meet the criteria set out in Annexes I and II to the Rotterdam Convention. The notifications are available below. The initial review by the Intersessional Task Groups is intended to facilitate the work of the Committee and does not replace the requirement for each of the notifications of candidate chemicals to be considered by the entire Committee.

Due to an expected high work load at the seventeenth meeting, the Bureau of the Chemical Review Committee decided to advise the Committee to bring forward its intersessional work on notifications for a number of chemicals where notifications of final regulatory action meeting the requirements of Annex I to the Convention had been received from at least two prior informed consent regions. The preliminary review of those notifications by the Bureau and the intersessional task groups took place between November 2020 and April 2021. The draft task group reports for these notifications are posted below. Comments have been received from the members and observers, as requested by the deadline of 16 April 2021.

The draft reports posted on this page will be finalized taking into account the comments received at the task group pre-meetings, to be held on Tuesday, 14 September 2021 and Wednesday, 15 September 2021. The task group pre-meetings are open to all Committee members as well as to observers registered to participate in the seventeenth meeting of the CRC. The final reports from the task groups will be made available to the whole Committee as an electronic Conference Room Paper (CRP).
