Gender issues in pesticide management

Activities carried out in 2022

Development of a publication on “Addressing gender issues in pesticide management” together with the Gender team in ESP with the objective of highlighting the gender-related implication of pesticide use and management, focusing on the role of women in handling hazardous pesticides in agriculture, the reasons why they are at higher risk and the health-related implications they face.

Delivering presentation on “Addressing gender issues in pesticide management “in the framework of the gender training program on "Tools and good practices for the integration of the gender approach in agro-productive and environmental projects" on 19 October 2022 organized by RLC FAO Regional Office, with the technical support of the gender unit in HQ (ESP), and in line with PPA BP1 Innovation for sustainable agricultural production and PPA BL1 Gender equality and empowerment of rural women, for members of cluster 10, project coordinators and technical teams from the different FAO offices in RLC.

(Ongoing preparation) Concept note prepared and training material developed for the “High-level online consultation on the integration of the gender dimension in the prevention and reduction of pesticide risks in Tunisia" in collaboration with DNAs Tunisa, FAO SNE to be delivered in January 2023.
