1. The twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade was held from 28 April to 9 May 2025 in Geneva, back to back with the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal and the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.

In its decision RC-12/2 on the operation of the Chemical Review Committee, the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade appointed 15 designated experts to serve as members of the Committee, with terms of office beginning on 1 May 2026 and ending on 30 April 2030. 1. As indicated in document UNEP/FAO/RC/CRC.21/22, the Secretariat received a proposal from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to list cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate 10% as a severely hazardous pesticide formulation in Annex III to the Rotterdam Convention. In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 6 of the Convention, the Secretariat collected from Parties and observers the additional information set out in part 2 of Annex IV to the Convention regarding the proposal.

As indicated in document UNEP/FAO/RC/CRC.21/23, the Secretariat received a proposal from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to list cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate 35% as a severely hazardous pesticide formulation in Annex III to the Rotterdam Convention. In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 6 of the Convention, the Secretariat collected from Parties and observers the additional information set out in part 2 of Annex IV to the Convention regarding the proposal.

1. As indicated in document UNEP/FAO/RC/CRC.21/24, the Secretariat received a proposal from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to list emamectin benzoate water soluble granules 5% as a severely hazardous pesticide formulation in Annex III to the Rotterdam Convention. In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 6 of the Convention, the Secretariat collected from Parties and observers the additional information set out in part 2 of Annex IV to the Convention regarding the proposal.
