Rules of Procedure

The rules of procedure for the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, were adopted by the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties (decision RC-1/1, with the exception of the second sentence of paragraph 1 of rule 45). The rules of procedure apply to any meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention convened in accordance with Article 18 of the Convention.

Save as provided in rules 28–31, the rules shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to the proceedings of any subsidiary bodies, subject to any modifications decided by the Conference of the Parties.

Financial rules

The financial rules for the Conference of the Parties, its subsidiary bodies and the Secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention were adopted by the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties (decision RC-1/4 and amended by the fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in decision RC-5/1).

The financial rules provide, among other things, for the development of budgets, the establishment of trust funds under the Convention, the contributions to be provided by parties, the management of accounts and audits, etc.
