Information for Participants

The ninth meeting of the Chemical Review Committee (CRC.9) will be held from 22 to 25 October 2013, with pre-meetings on Monday, 21 October 2013, at FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

In addition, on Sunday, 20 October 2013, a joint meeting with the Stockholm Convention’s Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee (POPRC) will be held. This joint meeting was agreed to by the bureaux of the Committees and the conferences of the Parties to the Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions, at their sixth meetings held from 28 April to 10 May 2013 in Geneva. The purpose of the joint meeting is for scientific information exchange between the members of the Committees.

In line with the procedure adopted by the Conference of the Parties for conducting a preliminary review of notifications of final regulatory action and prioritizing the work of the Chemical Review Committee, the Chair and Bureau, in consultation with the Secretariat, will assign Committee members to inter-sessional task groups for the preliminary review of the candidate chemicals.

The task groups will meet on Monday, 21 October 2013. The purpose of the informal pre-meeting is for the task groups to finalize the preliminary reviews and their presentations to the full Committee. Information on the schedule of the task groups’ work and for the pre-meetings will be available in due time.

As decided by the Conference of the Parties at its first meeting, the working language of the Committee’s meeting is English. As the meeting will be paperless, all documents will be provided via the Convention website in electronic form only. Please read the information on the arrangements for this paperless meeting.

Security Identification Documentation and Badges for Meeting Participants

Security identification badges are issued to participants upon arrival at the meetings and upon completion of the relevant registration procedure (and admissions procedure for observers, if applicable).

Meeting participants may collect their security identification badges at the registration desks upon presentation of one of the following identification documents issued by a government recognized by the United Nations:

  1. Valid national passport;
  2. Valid picture identification card, in Latin alphabets;
  3. Valid picture "residency" card, in Latin alphabets; or
  4. Valid picture drivers licence, in Latin alphabets.

To facilitate the badging procedure, participants are also advised to have available a copy of the confirmation letter transmitted by the Secretariat.
